Premier Gala Screening of ‘RAW The Documentary’

Alan and Janette. Credit: http://rawveganpath.com/about-us/

First, they came for the world record, now they’re bringing us an exciting and enlightening documentary which details their World Record setting 366 consecutive marathons (while both in their 60’s no less) around Australia and not only covering 15,782kms but also doing it on a raw vegan diet.

RAW The Documentary (based from the popular book ‘Raw Can Cure” by Janette Murray-Wakelin. Brolga Publighing + first published in 2013) sets out to shatter some misconceptions of what one can achieve eating a raw vegan diet. It explores the lives of Janette and Alan as they began to consider the benefits of a raw diet after Janette was diagnosed with cancer and given 6 months to live. Now years on and in their 60’s and healthy as a direct result of their fitness and commitment to ethical diets they want to share the amazing feats they have completed and the experiences along the way – which include the beauty of family, the love they have shared for over 30 years, a lifetime of fitness, the marathons in the great Australian nature encountering cyclones, torrential rain and 44+ degree weather. RAW The Documentary stands to be an informative resource for our awareness of the possibilities achievable on a raw vegan diet and the larger comments on the betterment of the environment, water sources and the considerations of all the species on this planet.

Flying into Danger (and off the shelves!)

Meticulous research, hard work and a passion for writing once again brings us an amazing book, Flying into Danger from John Ramsland (author of Remembering Aboriginal Heroes, Venturing into no Man’s Land: the charmed life of Joseph Maxwell VC – World War I hero and The Rainbow Beach Man: the life and times of Les Ridgeway, Worimi Elder [All published with Brolga Publishing] amongst other books, articles and letters).
Flying into Danger tells the story of Paul Brickhill, an iconic Australian fighter pilot who became a Prisoner of War in WWII that would go on not only to survive the ordeal but also to return and become a writer in England – amongst the trauma endured during that time that would lead to a near-two decade breakdown he would pen a collection of tour-de-force books that won him celebrity and after that he returned Australia – these books remain untouched by time and shape the way we view history. Paul Brickhill’s life that has been collated and transcribed by John Ramsland in Flying into Danger is immersive, informative and captivating. A must-read for those interested in Australian wartime, aviation, military biographies, Australian film and/or the books/films The Great Escape, Reach for the Sky and The Dam Busters.Available now in all good bookstores and you can also order a copy from us by contacting – markzocchi@brolgapublishing.com.au

Mal Walden was 17 years of age when he applied for his first job in media. At age 70, he gracefully crossed the finishing line to be recognised as the longest serving newsman on Australian television.

Each year Walden maintained a journal in which he recorded his personal life-changing moments woven through some of the biggest headlines of our times. Today they form a record – not only of his life as a newsman – but an evolution of television news now in its sixtieth year and facing what many proclaim is the imminent ‘death of news’ in all its traditional forms.
